Two years ago, with the iron in hand, a tiny start, now an outright hit.
Mike Bredie is working hard with Glitz4kids. In this way he makes the dream of his chronically ill wife Helena come true.
"Look at him, hey, haha!" Helena (30) points to her husband Mike (31) on the other side of the dining table. On his lap he has a white / pink unicorn, with a glitter heart on it. "It's strange that a man can love this just because his wife likes it so much," she says.
Mike - owner of a DIY company, some tattoos on the arm, short shaved head - is not exactly a type for a pink hug on his lap. Helena: 'Most women think it's great fun that Mike does this. But I also sometimes hear: "he still has to find out that he is gay."
It's not a kitsch, just cute.
Mike is now known by the large crowd of 'fans' of his webshop Glitz4kids as mr. Glitz. No problem for him. 'When I go to a festival for a day, I am recognized: Hey, are you Facebook? Nice dude. "
When she was pregnant with the now 3-year-old Jailey, Helena was finally free. "I've always been pink and over the top. Tulle, bow ties. Jailey was always dressed like a doll. Beautiful shoes, extra bow. We made our own shirts with glitter, just with the iron. A teat with glitter. And everywhere we went, people said, "Oh, how nice she looks. Where did you buy that? " We made almost everything ourselves. At one point I said to Mike: there really is trade in this. "
What's hot. Two years after Mike registered the Glitz4kids webshop at the Chamber of Commerce, he sells personalized products for children at home and abroad. Clothing, backpacks, stuffed animals, scarves, pillows; all with a 'touch of Bredie' added. The Facebook page has more than 56,000 followers. "We now get between 200 and 300 orders a week," says Mike. Helena: "It's not a kitsch, just cute."
Mike runs the webshop alone. Helena is chronically ill; for her, daily activities are already a struggle in themselves. "These are my ideas, Mike implements them." Performing this has now become more than a day's work. "It was a hit," Helena knows.
Often Mike, also father of 9-year-old Noa from a previous relationship, is busy late into the night. For example, he provided that 'standard' pink backpack with a silver colored heart with name. Another bow tie, and hop in a nice package to the customer. The iron has since been replaced by a professional press. "Mike works day and night. There is so much love in it, "says Helena.
'Halfway through 2019 we wanted a more professional webshop, and we are very proud of our new look. A bit more mature, but we are still of personal contact, because that is where our strength lies. If someone e-mails us, so to speak, because their child has lost a favorite cuddle cloth, we will make it again, even if it is in the middle of the night! Imiddels Helena also works on the orders 2 days a week, thanks to Glitz4kids and your many orders she can still do what she likes at her own pace and in her own safe environment, how cool is that! '
